Pop Art

I have created a piece of work in the style of Andy Warhol. I chose this image of Angelina Jolie, opened it in Photoshop and then used the 'stamp effect' to create a black and white image. I then printed this on acetate and added in chunks of colour to certain areas. This is similar to his famous image of the queen where I have used the squares of pink to add in some tone. I wanted to pick out areas like her eyes, lips and nails to create a really quirky effect, I did this by ripping the colours to create abstract shapes making her feature look less perfect and more pop art-ish.

On the second image I changed round some of the colours to see how the image looked in a different style. I think it looks a little bland and the strawberry she is eating hasn't come out as well as expected and it is hard to tell what it is, maybe with more positive areas showing through more of the texture from it would show up.

Stamp

I have been looking at the stamp tool and effect on Photoshop.

I have first used the stamp effect to create these celebs in black and white, the effect picks out the details in black and leaves other parts white, it gives off almost a pop art effect.

Second I have used the stamp tool or clone tool to create this six headed giraffe, by taking a section by pressing 'alt' you can then position the pen elsewhere and create the section again, I chose the giraffes neck and head.

Bra Pictures

Here are just a few edits of the pictures taken of the Bra created for breast cancer. We were all paired with second years and created a unique bra. This shows white net ruffles and cute little sparkly sequins to give it a really cute and glamorous feel.

v&a review

After visiting the v&a last week for the Hollywood costumes and ballgowns British glamour exhibitions I was overwhelmed with the amount of inspiring dresses. Above are a few sketches I made afterwards, the first two are from the Hollywood costume exhibition, the first was made for the film 'Elizabeth' each and every one of these costumes was exquisite, and each had a purpose and a story. A quote from the museum was 'costumes are made and not shop bought, they reflect everyday life and the character themselves'. One costume which fascinated me was AVATAR, but that was animated right? Yes the film is an animation but every bit of costume for the animation was made first so the director could see how everything would fit together in the film itself. Sketches must be made first and sometimes even a scene sketch to really show what the costume is going to portray.
The second image is a dress worn by Emily Blunt in the film The Wolfman, this was again a period costume and so a lot of research, visualisation and the directors vision needed to be taken into account.

'A well designed costume embodies the psychological  social and emotional condition of the character at a particular moment in the story'.

Hubert De Givenchy, was the designer of Audrey Hepburns costume in Breakfast at Tiffanys he said 'Audrey's chic and silhouette grew ever more celebrated enveloping me a radiance that I could never have hoped'. Each and every costume was designed for a purpose and the exhibition celebrated this.

The British Glamour and Ballgowns exhibition was beautifully put together and very different to the dark setting of the Hollywood costume one. With its lights and glass booths to show either the front back or side of the dress depending on which was the most eye catching. The third drawing is of the back of one of the dresses, the drape and trail was so beautiful along with the fabric the whole dress flowed elegance. A Matthew Williamson dress made from pleats which had been dip dyed in turquoise and blue along with cream was made and showed amazing definition to the shoulders and chest area to then drop down the torso to the floor.
Each and every dress this time was to show off and emphasize the female figure and show off current fashions or the designers unique ideas. Many of these dresses have been worn by celebrities on the red carpet and to major fashion events, this may then get the designer noticed and the look is written about in fashion magazines and are then desired by other women.

I then went online to research more and found this website, it shows just a few of the pieces in the British glamour exhibition if you want to read more into the dresses-

Dress Spec Board

I have now created a spec board for a dress, again on iDraw. This time i have used a dress with a bow on the front so it has created a two tone dress! (:

iDraw

I picked this dress and then began using iDraw for iPad to get an outline ready to add in a print. I then designed this print by editing a footprint photo again on iDraw. I then used the add image tool in styles to add in my footprint design. This then created my final footprint dress! :)

My Footprint Dress..

After designing my dress and creating some abstract footprint patterns i have now inserted these patterns into the dress. I have used adobe illustrator to do this by creating my pattern as a swatch in the program...

footprint prints..

I have now designed my own print including footprints, this will then go on to help me create a line of garments..

Tshirt Design..

I have designed a t shirt on adobe illustrator, i have then gone onto show where my stitches of the parts would be within my t shirt..
I have now taken this tshirt and am now deciding on which colourway works and will work for the rest of my products..

Dress Design

By using Adobe Illustrator i have taken the dress i blogged before and turned it into my own design.. I have then shown the stitch lines i would put into the separate parts..

Digital Technologies..

In today's CAD session we are looking at Digital Technologies, I have first created a mind map and then from that a mood board looking at all the different things in Digital Technologies..
Is it what we see as a device that we use or is it learning how to use the device or hardware?

ISS..

This is a Industry Specification Sheet, it will help me with my CAD project! :)

Dress..

This is the A-line dress from ASOS I will be using for my CAD project on footprints and repeat patterns! :D

Mood Board

Footprint and repeat pattern mood board. I wanted to incorporate repeat patterns with footprints to create a cute beach scene but with the harshness of the black footprints.

Repeat Patterns..

A repeat pattern is mainly seen in items of clothing/fabrics like wallpaper, cushions, bedding and even tea towels. What we wear and how our home looks means a lot to us by seeing these bright and colourful repeat patterns we are instantly drawn in. This may then make us buy the product and mix it with other items we own. Patterns change all the time, the patterns 'paisley' and 'houndstooth' are back in and are instantly manipulated to suit current trends. I LOVE PATTERN

Footprints..

A footprint is something made, it marks where we have been and shows our past. It may spark a memory or something you remember, it's imprinted on a soft surface like sand in the way a memory is imprinted in our minds.

me..

Currently studying fashion at college, everything i do will be put onto my blog..
How exciting..
